Myth: Environmentally friendly shopping choices are more expensive

Some shopping tips that may even save you money!

  • Plan your meals using fruit and vegetables in season (when they are cheaper) - they will have better flavour and keep longer.
  • Try buying seasonal fruit and vegetables and preserving or freezing them when they are plentiful so you have a supply for the months ahead.
  • Buy goods like toilet paper in bulk. You get better value for money and reduce packaging.
  • Purchase good quality clothing that you love and will wear forever and avoid the numerous ‘deals’ and cheap items that pill or wear quickly.
  • Go treasure-hunting at op-shops for unique or vintage clothes that can’t be found in the shops!

And of course – as a shopper who cares about the environment, you’ll always have your reusable shopping bags at hand to help with avoiding unnecessary plastic waste.
