Launched on World Water day (22 March), the Waitakere City Council is promoting the Water Ambassadors Kids Club.
The club aims to engage environmentally minded five to ten year olds in activities that preserve our precious resources - such as turning off the tap when they brush their teeth.
“We all know children are the future of Waitakere and many already know about what a precious resource water is and are keen to use that knowledge to act more sustainably in their own lives and to encourage their families to follow suit,” says Councillor Linda Cooper.
By modelling environmentally conscious behaviour such as, turning off taps and switching of lights, young people set “...a great example to the older generations.”
The Water Ambassadors Kids Club has a website full of information on club updates, events, activities and competitions that they are running.
