If you’ve felt confused about whether reusable nappies are better for the environment or not, then you’re in for good news. A recent research report has shown that there can be considerable environmental benefits to using reusable nappies.
A report by the UK Environment Agency states that reusable nappies can be more environmentally friendly than disposable ones, but that this is determined by how they are used by the consumer. It suggests that under certain circumstances, using them could lower the global warming impact by as much as 40%.
If you do use disposable nappies, there are also some environmentally friendly options. A nappy composting service will soon be available in Canterbury, so try contacting your local council to see if they considering anything similar in your region.
