The Green Ribbon Awards

The Green Ribbon Awards - which honour outstanding contributions to sustaining and enhancing the New Zealand environment - launched this year’s World Environment Day celebrations in Wellington. To mark World Environment Day, this year's awards featured a new nomination category - 'Lifetime commitment to the environment'. The Prime Minister presented this award to Dean Schneider for his work with young people. More information can be found on the winners of the nine nomination categories in the link below.

A Trade Aid Auction of artwork followed the awards ceremony. More than 21 pieces of art - created from pieces of junk - were sold on the night, raising more than $3,000 for environmental education in New Zealand.
