Global Day of Action on Climate Change

10 December 2007

Timed to coincide with the UN climate talks in Bali, Saturday 8 December 2007 was a Global Day of Action on climate change.

In Auckland, the Climate Rescue Carnival organised by Be The Change was held in Western Park, Ponsonby, where a ‘human banner’ sent a message to world leaders by spelling out the words “Climate SOS”. The event also featured lots of stalls, food and entertainment.
At Civic Square in Wellington, Victoria University’s environmental group, Gecko, hosted the Climate Action Festival. The event featured guest speakers including Climate Change Minister David Parker, music from the Ukulele Orchestra and the Wellington Community Choir, great food and plenty of stalls.

The sustainability.govt.nz team was there signing people up to our ‘What’s your next step?’ challenge. It was great to meet so many people who were already taking many steps to live more sustainably, and to see what they were pledging to do next.
If you haven’t already signed up to the challenge you can do so now!
