Go to www.storyofstuff.com to watch a great interactive video about the stuff we buy, why we buy it and how it affects other people and places in the world. The thing I really like abou this video is that it's inspiring and interesting rather than being all doom and gloom about the state of the world. It definitely changed the way I think about what I buy, and I thought I was already a socially and environmentally concious shopper!!

pea308, thanks for pointing me to the Story of Stuff. I had heard of it before but never seen the video. For those who are yet to watch it, the whole thing is about 20 mins long, but if you're only going to watch one segment I reccommend the 'distribution' segment. Very powerful!
I also love the quote in the production segment that said something like... "you'd think we could find a better way of stopping our heads from catching on fire." lol
