HELP! I am vinaigrette!

After enquiring about natural hair care in the 'shampoo' thread, I decided to try treating my hair with a mix of olive oil and lavender oil. I combed it through, left it for a while, then had a bath. I am now absolutely coated in olive oil from head to toe, so is the bath, and so is everything I have touched since I did it (door handles, shampoo bottle, the cat, the keyboard, my boyfriend...) I decided maybe my mistake was having a bath, so I stood up (cautiously... the bottom of the bath is covered with an oil slick) and had a shower. I'm still oily. I even used white vinegar in the final rinse to see if it would remove some of the oil but now I am still oily and smell like salad dressing :( I shampooed my hair twice - once in the bath, once in the shower - and I think I'm going to have to wash it again before I go to bed, so I don't get oil all over my pillow. So much for environmentally friendly! I've used more hot water, soap and shampoo in one day than ever in my life before and I'm still oily! Help! [Perhaps the purpose of this recipe was to give me more empathy for those poor sea creatures after a super-tanker runs aground. If so, it has worked.]

Oh no! Did you manage to get de-slicked eventually?

Yes I am finally de-slicked. I washed my hair again yesterday morning and it finally looks like it's back to normal - except it's particularly dry on the ends from being shampooed three times within 24 hours!

I have come to the startling conclusion that you shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet.

Your post made me chuckle. I have tried olive oil, almond oil (don't bother with either) and then moved on to neem oil (Indian) and coconut oil (Fijian). The latter two were OK, but now I have the answer - Argan oil (Morrocan). It is simply magic. Non-greasy. Smells fabulous. Hair looks hot. Unfortunately it costs a bit but it lasts forever and you can use it on your body too. Give it a crack, you won't regret it. It is all rage. Look for fair trade of course.
