Cooking my way to sustainability

Hi, I'm keen to make the most of the harvest season by using loads of seasonal produce. I now have a glut of apples and celery. Does anyone have any good recipes to share using these ingredients? Thank you!

Hi

For apples I would highly recommend just stewing a massive amount up and freezing it in ice cream containers. Makes great toppings for breakfast cereal (cheaper than canned fruit and without the can) and you can whip up a quick and easy apple crumble or pie when friends come for dinner.

Happy cooking!

Hey keen baker - if you're a meat eater try yummy sausages in a casserol with apples and celery...and other veges :)

Frozen apples as Mady suggested are really versatile and yummy!

Enjoy your cooking!

When I have heaps of some kind of fruit or vegetable, I often just blanch and freeze them. Fruit can be used in pies, muffins etc later, and veges in soups. It's especially useful if you can free-flow them (chop them up, blanch them, and spread them on a baking tray to freeze. Put into containers once frozen.)

But if you can't free-flow them, just freeze them in manageable quantities to make them easy to use later.
