One day Eco Building workshop
Gain an understanding of sustainable building and help meet the growing demand for healthy and sustainable homes and buildings

Date & time:  Saturday, 7 Nov 2009, 9am – 5pm

Permaculture Module 11 - Fertile Gardening
Designing gardening systems for your soils and site; Site management; Biological services and feedback loops – pest control, nutrient cycling, and fertility; Herbs and perennials; Crop rotation / green crops / herb lays; Plant health, pests and disease; Year round food production.

This workshop has received fantastic feedback from participants. It is an exciting opportunity to spend the day with one of New Zealand’s leading organic and permaculture food production experts. This workshop is part of the Auckland Modular Permaculture Design Certificate programme. No previous experience is required.

Ecobuilding and Green Architecture

Slow Food – Whole Food
Reduce your carbon footprint with smart food choices! At this cooking demo you'll eat delicious, healthy and economical fresh dishes based on seasonal produce (including some grown on site!), legumes and whole grains.

Urban Chooks
Fresh eggs and garden pest control in one! The sound of chickens in the backyard was commonplace up until the 50s and 60s. Chickens are a valuable addition to a productive backyard - they can still be kept in the suburbs but there are a few council by-laws you will need to know. Barbara will discuss what a chicken needs to be happy and healthy from housing and shelter to diet.

DIY Natural First Aid kit
Grow your own drugs. Come along and learn how to use plants, in their different forms.  Watch a demonstration on making different products, that can be added to your first aid kit.  Raw materials are available for purchase – orders need to be in by 14 November.
