SAM the goat is spreading the word on waste for Hutt City Council.
Stylish and charismatic, SAM can be seen in publications and in person, helping Hutt City residents become aware of what they can do to reduce waste. SAM is a waste expert - resourceful, determined and knowledgeable.
SAM is actually short for Salvage All Materials. Which is what we all need to do to keep our region clean and safe for our children.

Environmental education
The Council has successfully developed its Trash Palace Enviro-park – operated by Mana Community Enterprises Inc working in partnership with Council. Mana Community Enterprises Inc is a not-for-profit organisation focused on providing work opportunities. An education space is included as part of Trash Palace to help raise awareness of environmental issues. The space is available as a community resource for displays and workshops. Schools and community groups are encouraged to be involved in developing the use of the centre.
