Renting Secrets from an Eco Design Advisor

We’ve had some recent discussions about the problems those renting face when trying to make their home more sustainable. In response, we’re lucky to have a guest blog from Claire Benge, the Wellington City Council Eco Design Advisor. Claire has a lot of experience helping out renters and has some great advice for those trying to make rental properties warmer and more energy efficient:

Houses made from rubbish at the NZ International Film Festival

I’ve been gorging myself on the films on offer at The New Zealand International Film Festival and I was lucky enough to catch the documentary ‘Garbage Warrior’ a few nights ago. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect settling down in the darkened theatre with a mixed bag of suits, students and hippies around me, but very soon I was pleased by my decision.

Fieldays Fun and a New Face

Hello everyone. First off I just wanted to say ‘hi’ and introduce myself. My name is Andrew and I’m the new friendly face around here (in a manner of speaking).

Goodbye everyone!

This is the last blog I’ll write for www.sustainability.govt.nz, which leaves me a bit sad. I’ve really enjoyed sharing my thoughts and chatting with you guys on the forums. I’ve met some pretty cool people and have learned a lot.

Beam me up, Scotty!

Simple power saving

My power bill last month was $37.46. I don’t think that I live in a particularly hermit-like fashion – I shower daily, I cook regularly, I don’t have a TV, but I do spend too much time online, so I think that cancels out not having a telly.
